LinkedIn Connector for Claude: Free, and Set Up by URL

Most people who want Claude to handle their LinkedIn posting search for the word “connector”, because that is the word Claude itself uses. This page is written for that search. It explains what a connector actually is, what you get once LinkedIn is connected, exactly how to add it, and — the part most pages skip — what it genuinely cannot do.

What is a connector in Claude?

A connector is a tool you add to Claude so it can do something outside the chat window. On its own, Claude can write you a good LinkedIn post, but it cannot put that post on LinkedIn. It has no hands. A connector gives it hands for one specific job.

You add a connector once, in Claude’s settings, by pasting a web address. From then on, Claude can call that tool during a normal conversation. You type “post this to LinkedIn” and Claude reaches out through the connector instead of telling you to copy and paste.

Kalovio is a connector for LinkedIn. It is free to use, and it is hosted — meaning it already runs on the internet, so there is nothing for you to install, download, or keep running on your own machine.

Is a “connector” the same thing as an “MCP server”?

Yes. Same thing, two audiences.

Anthropic calls them connectors in Claude’s interface, because that word makes sense to everyone. Developers call the same thing an MCP server — MCP being the Model Context Protocol, the open standard that describes how an AI assistant and an outside tool talk to each other. The standard is the plumbing; “connector” is the label on the tap.

So if you search for a LinkedIn connector for Claude and land on pages talking about MCP servers, you have not gone wrong. The address you paste into Claude is the same either way. Kalovio’s address ends in /mcp for exactly that reason.

What can Claude do with LinkedIn once it is connected?

Kalovio gives Claude 26 tools. In plain terms, that comes out as this:

• Write and publish a post. Draft it in the chat, change the wording as many times as you like, then publish it to your own LinkedIn profile. The ceiling is 3,000 characters, which is LinkedIn’s own limit for a post.
• Schedule a post. Pick a date and time up to a year ahead and it goes out on its own. Claude does not need to be open when it publishes.
• Run a weekly queue. Tell Kalovio which days and times you want to post, hand it a batch of posts — up to 30 in one go — and it drops them into the next free slots.
• Post an image. You upload the picture through Kalovio’s upload panel, then tell Claude to use it.
• Post an image carousel. Between 2 and 9 images that readers swipe through. See the caveat below — test this on your own account first.
• Post a PDF carousel. Upload a PDF or a slide deck and post it as the swipeable document format LinkedIn shows in the feed. Same caveat, plus one more: these cannot be scheduled yet.
• Tag a company page. Mention a company inside your post text.
• Track link clicks. Kalovio can wrap a link in your post so you can see how many people clicked it.
• Keep a voice profile. You describe how you write once — tone, sentence length, words you never use — and Claude drafts to that description every time, instead of you re-explaining it in each new chat.
• Keep drafts, list what you published, and delete a post. Save half-finished ideas, look back at what Kalovio posted for you, and remove a post if you change your mind.
• Skip the caption if you want. If you attach an image or a PDF, you can post it with no text at all.

How do I add the LinkedIn connector to Claude?

The whole thing is one address and one sign-in. On the web or the desktop app:

• Open Settings, then Connectors.
• Choose Add custom connector.
• Paste this address: https://kalovio.com/mcp
• Save it, then press Connect. Claude opens a sign-in page.
• Sign in with LinkedIn and approve the permission LinkedIn shows you. That single step both creates your Kalovio account and connects your LinkedIn — there is no separate signup form, no password to invent, and no card.
• Back in a chat, ask Claude to check your LinkedIn account status. If it reports your name, you are connected.

Does it work on the free Claude plan?

Yes. Custom connectors work on Claude’s free plan, and Kalovio itself is free while it is in public beta. There is no card and no trial clock.

Worth saying plainly: it is a beta, and pricing may change later. What will not change is that you sign in through LinkedIn’s own screen and can revoke access from your LinkedIn settings whenever you want.

ChatGPT is a different story. The same connector works there, but ChatGPT only allows custom connectors through Developer Mode, which is on the paid plans, on the web only, and has to be switched on for each conversation from the tools menu. Claude is the easier of the two by some distance.

How does the connector sign in to LinkedIn?

Through LinkedIn’s own OAuth screen — the “Continue with LinkedIn” flow you have used elsewhere. Two details matter here.

You never paste a cookie. Some LinkedIn tools ask you to copy the session cookie out of your browser — the string that proves your browser is already logged in. That hands over your whole account and cannot be switched off for one tool. Kalovio does not do that, does not drive a browser in the background, and does not scrape LinkedIn at all. It publishes through LinkedIn’s documented posting interface using the w_member_social permission, which allows publishing on your behalf and nothing else.

Your LinkedIn key never reaches Claude. There are two separate sign-ins that are deliberately never joined together: Claude signs in to Kalovio, and Kalovio separately signs in to LinkedIn. Your LinkedIn token — the limited key LinkedIn issues instead of a password — is encrypted and stays on Kalovio’s backend. It is never shown to the assistant, never returned in a tool result, and never written to a log.

And nothing publishes on its own. Every publish, schedule, queue and delete happens in two steps. Claude first shows you a preview along with a signed token covering that exact wording, and nothing is sent until you confirm. That gate exists because AI assistants read web pages and documents all day, and a hidden instruction buried in one of them should not be able to post to your profile.

What can this connector not do?

This is the section most product pages leave out. Read it before you connect anything.

Files are capped at 20 MB each, your library holds 100 of them, and they are kept for 30 days.

Is posting to LinkedIn through Claude allowed?

That is a very different position from a tool that drives your logged-in browser session. The most-linked open-source LinkedIn tool on GitHub warns in its own README that accounts “can be restricted or banned”, and states that it “does not publish or create posts on your behalf” — it reads data instead. Different tool, different job, different risk. It is also something you run yourself; Kalovio is a hosted service you connect to by address, so there is no repository to clone and no server of your own to keep alive.

Is it worth connecting?

If your LinkedIn posting keeps stalling in the gap between “Claude wrote something good” and “it is actually on LinkedIn”, then yes — closing that gap is the entire point of a connector. Setup is one address and one sign-in, it costs nothing today, and if you decide against it you remove it from LinkedIn’s permitted-services list and it is gone.

If what you actually need is reading your past posts or seeing engagement numbers, no self-serve connector can give you that today, and it is better to know that now than after you connect.
